| As the state’s chief economic and community development
agency, the West Virginia Development Office improves the quality
of life for all West Virginians by strengthening the state’s
communities and expanding its economy to create more and better
jobs.
The West Virginia Council for Community
and Economic Development, a group of private- sector leaders
who serve without compensation, directs and oversees the agency
in a true public-private partnership.
The West Virginia Development Office actively promotes the
growth of the state’s economy through business startups,
retention and expansion of existing industry, and the attraction
of new industry. Representatives work closely with local
level economic developers. The office supports a strong
international investment and export effort and also is aggressively
involved in the improved quality of life and services for
the state’s communities.
