GOVERNOR AWARDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANTS TO SUMMERS COUNTY
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Bob Wise today awarded four community development grants totaling $167,000 to Summers County.
“With every dollar we invest in these communities, we make West Virginia a better place to live,” Wise said.
These grant programs support community enrichment projects that provide a better living environment or expand economic development opportunities. They are administered by the West Virginia Development Office.
Grants were awarded to the following:
Local Economic Development grants:
Summers County Commission $37,000
- Replace the existing bath houses at the Summers County 4-H Camp with new bath houses that are ADA compliant $30,000
- Pay the costs of fees and permits necessary for site
preparation, including excavation, grading, filing, and utility
construction for the future construction of an animal shelter facility $7,000
Community Partnership grants:
Summers County Commission $130,000
- Assist in continued renovation of the Summers County Courthouse and Memorial Building $120,000
- Water extension feasibility study, to include engineering and design fees and construction $10,000
