Tree plantation initiative: Plantation-style planting of poplar on reclaimed surface mined property to demonstrate a reduction in harvest cost. Project partners include Westvaco, West Virginia University Division of Forestry and the West Virginia Development Office.
Wood industry assistance program: In cooperation with the WVU Division of Forestry, provide on-site technical assistance to the forest products industry. Participating companies in 2001 included Allegheny Wood Products, Taz Lumber and Westvaco.
