Type of assistance: Public facilities

Purpose: This program provides lighting evaluations and grants for the installation of energy-efficient fluorescent lighting systems.

Description: The program provides lighting analyses of state and local government facilities and schools; nonprofit hospitals, and public libraries using the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star lighting audit. A 50/50 matching grant program providing up to $30,000 is available for state and local government, public and higher education, and nonprofit hospital organizations. Projects must provide payback on energy savings within five years. A lighting audit performed by the Energy Efficiency Program is required for participation. Services provided by EEP include a lighting audit and presentations on lighting and building energy efficiency topics for school and government facility audiences.

How to apply: An energy audit by EEP staff is required for participation in the Lighting Grants Program. Officials will provide an application after the audit and a determination of the applicant's eligibility.
