The West Virginia Development Office conducts ongoing research on the state’s business climate and economic competitiveness in relation to other states. The research and strategic planning team collects data on key business climate factors such as construction costs, labor availability and costs, taxes, quality of life, education, health care costs, electric rates and gas rates as well as economic performance indicators such as employment, income and GSP growth. This information fuels various computerized databases and business models that update the state’s annual economic performance benchmarking report.
